Still crafting

What with all the constant building work in my house, it's hard to find the time and space to make miniatures at the moment. But that doesn't mean I've given up crafting all together. I just need something I can pick up and put down quickly, and that doesn't mind a bit of dust in the air (anyone who's ever worked with polymer clay will understand what a no-no dust is!).

So I've been sewing, in particular hand sewing quite a bit recently. Here is the fruit of my most recent labour:

I think it classes as a mini quilt as it's only 15" x 14.5" although it's certainly not mini by dollhouse standards! I made up the design and very much enjoyed making it using a technique called English paper piecing. How many animals can you spot hidden in there?

Don't forget your 5 a day!

One of my miniatures was included in a very fresh and tasty looking treasury on Etsy.
I especially love the knitted fruit and veg. Yum!

I will be shipping worldwide, although please remember that some countries have more reliable postal services than others, and I can't help it if it gets lost in transit. Let's cross our fingers and hope that does NOT happen, it's only happened to me twice in 4 years and 300+ sales on Etsy.

Please remember, these dollhouse miniatures are not toys, and are neither intended nor suitable for young children due to small parts.

Good luck!

Bag blogger!

I've been a bad blogger, a theme I started at the beginning of the year and appear to be continuing with!

No matter, I will be running a competition to win some Easter themed handmade dollhouse miniatures very soon, so keep checking up.

In the mean time, here are some of my excuses:

Exhibit A:
World's wonkiest gates, note how they don't actually line up or close properly.

World's biggest and took the longest to stain 50 bazillion times gates.

Much better gates! That gap in the middle will soon be gone too.

Exhibit B:
World's steepest and most treacherous staircase. This is a view from above to help make sense of it. That doorway is the ground floor.

Where the new stairs will eventually be. It's still not finished! Getting this far involved knocking lots of doorways through our brick walls (no studwork in my house - it's brick or nothing!) and coating the entire inside of the house with fine red dust. It didn't matter how well sheeted everything was, this dust invaded everywhere. That was a lot of fun to clean up!

And there's lots more going on I just haven't had a chance to photograph (I'm now a pro at door painting. So wish me luck and some time to make some miniatures some time this year.
