I'm still here!

Long time no post. I hate half asleep blogs but life seems to be getting in the way. Lots of things happening at once in the LTW household and sadly miniature making is suffering as a result. To give you an idea, here's a list of thing I've been up to this month (or will complete this month):

Getting all my house tested for asbestos in the walls. (Came back negative - PHEW!)

Getting three different builders in to quote on half destroying the upstairs of my house. We need new stairs but because of the crazy multi-level, multi-staircase layout, it's not simple and every door needs re-locating. The joy of hundred year old cottages!

Having difficulty getting the builders to reply. Apparently they are unaffected by the recession since they can afford to turn down work! And when they do send me a quote it doesn't actually mention the work I asked for.

Actually getting the work done next week, I'm expecting a LOT of mess. Almost every room in the house will be affected. Hopefully it won't last more than a week, but at least the dust doesn't contain asbestos.

Getting planning permission to replace an old pair of gates. You read that right. UK planning laws are striiiiiiict! We applied before Christmas and we've been told early March for a decision. For a pair of gates (which are just replacements!).

Assessing my 'real life' career, doing lots of online research and attending various job interviews. I made it to the final two candidates for one role, which was nice. But turns out I didn't actually want the job and I think they realised thus I didn't get offered the role. But it's good to know I still have the knack when it comes to interviews. I'm sure if the location hadn't been so rubbish I would have been more enthusiastic and gotten the job. Hoping something better comes along soon.

Considering starting my own freelance business on the side as well as my full time job. And sadly it isn't craft related. I'm thinking very seriously about starting a translation business using my French skills, but it's at an early research stage right now.

Digging up the many mysterious piles of rock and rubble dotted around my garden. I think the previous occupiers must have used their own garden as a dumping ground. Well I love my garden and it deserves better. But it is back-breaking work!

Oh and I work full time too, with a horrible long commute (thus the job hunting) so all in all a busy month!

I'm tired just reading that. Time for a nap...
