Apples!

The snow on the ground outside is telling me winter has most definitely arrived, so what do I do? I go and make that most autumnal of foods - apples! I think this is my first batch of miniature apples that are even close to having a good colour. All previous attempts were too green or pale or red.

So after hours of messing around with fimo and sponges and paint, I finally came up with these:
And this is the 12th scale set that all that apple making was in aid of:

This 12th scale fruit and veg set is available to buy in my Etsy shop.

Healthy Miniatures

I've been making lots of miniature cakes recently, so I thought I ought to make something a little healthier for us miniaturists (and our dolls) to enjoy. I made a cute and colourful watermelon cane yesterday. I used it for some 12th scale dollhouse miniatures, but I don't have any photos of them yet. So for now, here are the earrings I made from the same cane. I especially like the green stripey skin. Makes me crave fruit, which during this holiday season is no bad thing!

These are all available in my Etsy shop, and hopefully the dollhouse miniatures will be finished soon as well.

Back from my travels

I've been away from blogland and my Etsy shop forthe past week, due to a business trip for my 'real' job. I went to Germany and represented my company at an exhibition for the micro electronics industry. That is about as exciting as it sounds. Lots of 12 hour days and busy underground trains and being polite all the time to old men in suits who assume I am a hostess and therefore don't know what I'm talking about. What fun!

But on a positive note, I got to eat lots of lovely german delicacies such as Schnitzel, Breze (pretzel) and Apfelstrudel. YUM! Perhaps it will inspire some german-themed mini making. In the meantime here is some real life german inspiration.
