Thanks to Sumaiya Mehreen for posting some of my Easter Bunnies on http://www.theminifoodblog.blogspot.com/! You can check out some truly amazing miniature work on this blog. I feel super pleased to be put next to them.
One of my items is on the Etsy voters for European shops! Woohoo! Cooincidentally, it's the English fry-up I last featured in this blog so I'll not post the same photo twice in a row. If you feel like voting for who you'd like to see on the Etsy front page, the link is www.etsy.com/voter_list.php?ref=voter&room_id=97. Also fellow food miniaturist, the amazing Stéphanie from Petit Plat is featured on the Etsy vote too so check it out. Her mini breads are wonderful!
At this time of year I try to behave myself when it comes to food. I'm in no massive rush to lose weight, but with Easter just around the corner I intend on eating plenty of chocolate in the near future. So to stop myself becoming spherical, I eat in moderation during the run-up.
Unfortunately today I am craving fried food! This is strange, because even when I'm not paying any attention to my diet, I never eat fried food (apart from fish n chips, I'm British, it's a birth-right). Never, ever, ever do I fry food at home, it's just not something I'm particularly bothered about.
This is my first attempt at a tiered cake. You can find it in my Etsy shop at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=42280111&image_id=128805321
For a first go, it's not so bad. But it still has lots of little imperfections, especially in the white parts. I need to work on that.
Also, I have a major problem with cracking! This one wasn't so bad, but many of my tiered cakes cracked a little during their first bake, and a lot during the second one, to the point they had to be scrapped. I thought you could bake fimo as many times as you liked. I don't understand it, as I follow the instructions on the pack and none of my other things crack like this. Is it the thickness of the cakes that's doing it? I don't know! Any advice would be welcome.
This month I am featuring the wonderful creations fo Fairy Furnishings. They make beautiful 12th scale furniture in an amazing rustic style. Perfect for all those small fairies that need some home comforts!
I love the flowers on this bed, and the twigs used as beams. It looks as though the fairies went out into the forest to find all their own materials.
An extremely cute pair of chairs and table. Even fairies need to sit down once in a while.
